O. Reg. 267/03 Explained for Farmers

A simplified explanation of what Ontario's nutrient management regulation is, when it applies, and what farmers must do.

Planning a Barn or Livestock Expansion?

If your project triggers Ontario nutrient management rules, you may need a Nutrient Management Strategy, Nutrient Management Plan, MDS review, or manure storage assessment before moving forward.

This page explains what the rule means for Ontario farmers planning barn construction, livestock expansion, manure storage, or nutrient application.

What Is O. Reg. 267/03?

Ontario Regulation 267/03 is the regulation under the Nutrient Management Act, 2002. It sets out the rules for how nutrients — primarily from livestock manure and non-agricultural source materials — are managed on Ontario farms.
