Typical NMS and NMP Cost Ranges
Every farm is different, but most projects fall within a practical range depending on livestock type, nutrient units, manure storage, land base, mapping needs, soil test information, and whether both a Nutrient Management Strategy and Nutrient Management Plan are required.
All NMS and NMP work includes nutrient unit calculations as part of the review. Pricing also reflects the required farm visits, document preparation, calculations, mapping review, and follow-up needed to complete the work properly.
Nutrient Management Strategy — New Barn Build
$750–$950 + HST
For straightforward new barn projects where livestock numbers, manure type, proposed location, and storage details are clear. Includes nutrient unit calculations, review of the proposed barn project, required site visits, and NMS preparation.
Nutrient Management Strategy — Livestock Expansion
$850–$1,500 + HST
For expansions involving increased livestock numbers, changes to housing, manure storage review, or more detailed approval support. Includes nutrient unit calculations, review of existing and proposed livestock capacity, required site visits, storage review, and NMS preparation.
Nutrient Management Plan
$500–$2,000 + HST
For manure application and crop nutrient planning. Includes nutrient unit calculations where required, field and land base review, soil test and crop rotation information, manure source review, application planning, and NMP preparation. Cost depends heavily on the number of fields, quality of records, soil test information, crop rotation, and land base complexity.
